Are you an aspiring ice hockey player looking to reach your potential, while still having the time and structure to meet your educational expectations?
If so please fill in your details below so we can get in touch and explain what we offer here at the Okanagan Hockey Academy UK. We can invite you to experience a full day in the life of an OHA student-athlete both on and off the ice (when COVID-19 allows) and explore opportunities for you in both ice hockey and academics.
The Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) is a complete programme that includes education, hockey, off-ice strength and conditioning, mental training, personal and team development. The program operates from the start of September until Mid July each year.
The OHA staff is a team of professionals that are committed to the development of each player. The individual needs of each player are identified by analyzing their academics, hockey skills, strength and conditioning and future goals. The individual is then incorporated into a team environment to maximize their development potential.
Balint spent four years with OHA UK in Swindon as an international student. The outstanding management of the program and the personal care what we received gave me complete confidence as a parent that my son was in a good and safe place during the years. The billet families were great and helped him to develop social awareness and how to adopt to a new environment. The program ideally combines an outstanding high school experience with a strong ice-hockey training designed in Canada. My son ended up with A-level results which gave him the possibility to go for a good collage program and the hockey brought him to a good Swedish junior team in his gap year. The winning team spirit and the culture of everyday hard work gave a tool to my son how to be successful in any challenge in his life. Ryan as Head Coach has a great sensitivity how to handle and talk to those boys and to guide them into the desired direction to mature as a man. Over all positive outcomes my son made great friends had fun and had a lovely four years. I'll be always thankful for Paul and Ryan that they treated my son as their own and gave him so much during the years. Thanks for all!
The program is amazing, but it will only work if the players are committed. It is hard work for the boys but offers so many opportunities. The benefits for Matt are obvious and the program does what it sets out to do; enable young athletes to stretch themselves and reach their potential, not only on the ice but also personally and academically.
OHA taught Mac how to be a 'professional' on and off the ice. The environment raised his game in all aspects. The result; playing amongst the top level players in Finland.
