Ahead of the 21/22 season, Okanagan Hockey UK has made the decision to move from a team academy to a skills academy. Whilst this change will not impact any 20-21 team academy operations this will change how the OHA runs going into the new season.

This was a difficult decision for OHA to make. The last nine seasons we’ve had a very successful team academy and some of our Alumni have gone on to achieve wonderful things. However, due to the current climate and ongoing risk due to Covid-19 we believe the individual skills academy will be better positioned to support the local hockey community and to assist with the UK player development pathway.

We would like to thank all players, parents and billets for their commitment over that last 9 years. We would also like to put on record a special thank you to all the staff that has made the academy possible. The commitment from all our staff over the last nine years has been incredible. None more so than our head coach Ryan Aldridge, former coach Pete Russell and Paul Kelsall.

The skills academy will focus on individuals and the on ice progression of each skater. Heading into the new season there will be three 1-hour sessions per week led by Head Coach Ryan Aldridge, Assistant Coach Aaron Nell and Goalie Coach Mark Perre. Click here to see more.

Whilst 21-22 will be a new look OHA, we cannot wait to start working with some brilliant young hockey players and help them nurture their talent to further their career.
